Dapper Dudes

I was so excited to get My Mind's Eye's newest collection in the mail that I just had to bust into Collectable "Memorable" for this page based on a Paper Secrets sketch. The twist this week was to use Thickers.

The Thickers I used are from an older line, so old that I have to reapply glue to each letter when I use them! For this project I also misted them with OA Sprinklers because those babies were white, white, white. I love the way the "Wheat field" transformed them, a perfect color match!

I also did a little altering on the flowers, which were to pink for me. I rubbed white paint on most of each flower and then misted with more Wheat Field.

The doily stamp is from Unity Stamp Co. "Grandma's Closet," I stamped it with black ink and then the one at the top I heat embossed with Gold Zing! embossing powder.

You'll notice I busted out one of my homemade enamel dots again, such a nice little touch in that cluster.

On the Up and Up

This page is based on the Paper Secrets sketch with a twist. I used American Crafts Chap for most of it, but there's also some MME washi, a Glitz Designs journal sticker, Jenni Bowlin mini alphas and an assortment of chipboard alphas that have been chilling in my stash.  I used Kiwi Lane Clara Lane templates and inked  it up with Ranger Distress Inks.

Paper Secrets' "twist" was to include washi on the page somehow. Using it in the bottom corner seemed pretty natural and I really like how it tied the title to the corner shape.

Covering the month

If you're here to check out the Second Page
of my Scrapbooksteals.com MWM sketch, head here.
_________________________________________________

I've sort of gone about this whole December Daily thing in a mismatched order. Most people start with the cover, I've started with interior pages. But here's my thing. It doesn't matter. In the end, there'll be days that I don't journal or photograph or anything. That's just how it is.

That being said, my whole mini album will probably be filled with pages from various challenges. Because those challenges are what's going to keep me sane in this craziness! Bwahahahaha.

Which brings us to the cover of my album. The colors are inspired by the Paper Secrets team's color palette.

So how fun is that? I made the cover from a piece of cardboard (thanks to Scrapbooksteals.com for always including a nice large sheet in paper packages!).
  • I covered it with some Lily Bee Design paper,
  • gessoed on a tree, spritzing October Afternoon mists into the pattern,
  • then added some iRock gems,
  • glittered some pop dots,
  • added the rub on and Thickers and word stickers,
  • and finally, wrapped the edge of the board with WRMK washi.

Building Words

I spend much of my day considering words. Not because I'm a blogger. Nope, because I'm a mom of an almost preschooler who has discovered spelling. We spell all day. I felt that that needed to be captured somehow so when Paper Secrets' newest sketch went up I knew it would be a good time to use the picture of our refrigerator.

Clearly the most dominant element in the sketch was the starburst. Ohhh, how I hated trying to piece that together!!! But I think it turned out pretty good. Around the top of the page I did a little journaling border - those are all words he's made us spell most frequently. Frequency determined by number of responses to a text sent to family and friends asking them to tell me what they have to help Vance spell! These are clearly the impacting words in his life right now.
