MWM Coral 9 - Trucks Up Close

I don't often push these things to their deadline, but with Thanksgiving this week I sure squeaked under the wire to finish up my Scrapbooksteals.com Coral 9 on time. I loved the sketch when it was posted - especially when I saw the initial interpretation. The papers just screamed at me to buy them. I resisted, partly because I was to busy! So here I am, blogging after the deadline so that I can find the link easily because at the end of the series there's always a little drawing for those who completed all ten. Sweet. I've never won it, but the prizes are normally out.of.this.world.

Favorite thing about this layout?! That I  used up a lot of  bigger scrappy leftovers from various collections. Don't get me wrong, I still have scraps from these scraps...the scraps seem to be neverending!

Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger and Rocket Age

This is the first time I've played along with Paper Secrets' sketch challenge. I couldn't help myself after meeting Kerys

A bonus element to their sketch - I used October Afternoon paper for the first time! Rocket Age was a perfect match for these photos of Vance and his Buzz wings. A big thanks  and virtual hug to my friend, Staci, for hooking me up with this paper.

The black paper is a liner page from a scrapbook album with silver pen dotted into a starry sky, the banner pieces are 3 Bugs Blast Off!, and the Rocket Age papers are from an 8x8 pad, the large alphas are American Crafts Thickers and the smaller ones are October Afternoon.

Birthday Card

There's a lot of birthday in my life this time of year, so I was very grateful that the Paper Girls Challenge blog Challenge #13 was to make something "birthday" related. BONUS for me!

I tried to keep the card itself simple, just using a little distress ink (walnut stain and broken china) to darken it from a pastel. In this picture it looks very dark, in person it has a lot of green tones.

The paper is 3 Bugs in a Rug Blast Off!, as are the happy birthday sticker and the die cut with stars. The eyelets are WRMK and the twine is MME Miss Caroline Dilly Dally.

Mojo - the midweek kind

After spending the last two weeks working almost exclusively on a project for the Scrapbooksteals retreat in October I have to say that it's nice to get back to my normal creative grind. Variety is nice.

This is Pearl 5 from a sketch by Kristy Lee. I love when her sketches just sort of click with my resources/me.

Such a fast page to do! The washi in the top corner really helped with that, but even without it I spent more time cutting out the maze circles and the space port sign with my Cameo than I did actually assembling the page!

Papers and diecuts are 3 Bugs in a Rug Blast Off, Target Washi Tape, American Crafts Accordion Flowers and Thickers, Bo Bunny Wraps, MME Lush 2 Orange gems, Pebbles Chalks, stash brads and black and shiny paper used for Silhouette Cameo shapes, Studio G Glitter Glue, Crackle Accents.

MWM Pearl 3

Wow! I can't believe that I managed to crank out a Mid-Week Mojo on the day it was posted. Awesome-sauce. Today's MWM featured a sketch from the lovely Kristy Lee using Kiwi Lane Templates. Now I sort of own some, they live at my mom's, I use them there and she uses them when I'm not. So to work on the page *today* I had to improvise, because if you've never seen them they're pretty cool. Basically, they're a border stencil and the next best thing to tracing and cutting is to use a kit that has die cut borders in it! Right?!  Or pull out your die cutting machine, but I chose option "A" because I was lazy.

3 Bugs in a Rug Blast Off papers and die cuts
3 Bugs in a Rug Chaos and Confusion Chipboard alphas
Bo Bunny Wraps ribbon
Color Box Chalk Ink, Olive
Green brads, stash
So this is it. My first time using papers from 3 Bugs in a Rug. I'm stinkin' in love with this kit. Blast Off is so much fun. My favorite thing in the whole kit is the little sticker on the bottom left page that says you make my whole face smile, or something to that end.
