Recipe shadow box

I pretty much love that my hobby lets me make pretty things that are also functional! We'd had these Balsa wood shadow boxes hanging around the store for a while and Dala asked me to play around with them, she also wanted something done with Prima Chalkboard paint (because we ordered thinking it was really cool and nobody was biting the bullet).

So I turned one side of the shadow box into a chalkboard menu planner and recipe holder and the other is a photo frame and recipe card box. How functional is that?!

I'm actually kind of sad that it has to be at the store for a while, though I am really excited about it as a class.

The papers are from Ruby Rock-It Country Cookin and paired beautifully with the chalkboard paint.
I used a little red Viva Devor Inka Gold to lend some vintage distressing.

The other embellishments include real vintage bottle caps, BG Herb and Honey wood Veneers, WRMK twine, and some Fab Scraps chipboard.

On the chalkboard side I free-handed some swirls with Art Anthology Dimensional Crystals.

  2. I can totally see why you are sad to have it at the store for a while and glad to have the class. What an adorably functional project. I will hope that you get lots of bites!
